
Wayne Dale McCrary, 67, died peacefully and with dignity on February 17, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, surrounded by his family, all the saints and angels, and the prayers of his extended family and friends. He was born April 24, 1957, in Santa Cruz, CA, to William Donald and Leona Arlene (Fought) McCrary.
Wayne attended Larned High School. He retired from Krause Plow after almost 40 years of service working in their experimental shop. Wayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting coins, metal detecting, motorcycle riding, and putting puzzles together. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #612. Wayne and his wife, Elaine, volunteered with church ministries and were active with Marriage Encounters and Retrouvaille. Most of all, Wayne loved living life with love, especially with his family and friends and with an extra special place for his grandbabies.
On September 23, 1978, he married Elaine Becker, in Maize.
Wayne is survived by: his mother, Leona McCrary; his wife of almost 47 years, Elaine McCrary, both of Hutchinson; children, Rachel Gibson (Eric) of Hutchinson, Wendy McCrary-Lawson (David) of Kansas City, KS, Joe McCrary (Brittany) of Blue Springs, MO, and Josh McCrary (Brianna) of Weatherford, OK; brother, William “Dan” McCray (Jan); grandchildren, Isabel, Isaac, Hazel, Wyatt, Beckham, and Jayden; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his father, William “Don” McCrary; and brothers, Willard “Dude” McCrary, Walter “Donny” McCrary, and Warren “Dean” McCrary.
Parish Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
