HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Area fire crews are hoping for a little quieter day today after several grass fires on Tuesday.
The warm, windy weather allowed two controlled burns to get away. One of them was in Kingman County, the other in far southwest Reno County.
Fire Chief Steven Beer says he is hoping the rain in the forecast off and on for this week and next will help green things up earlier than usual so the wildfire danger will be more limited.
