Kan. officer shooting suspect released by mistake is back in custody

KANSAS CITY —A suspect accused in the April 5, shooting of three Kansas police officers released from jail by mistake on April 20 in Platte County, Missouri is back in jail. 

The U.S. Marshal's service took 21-year-old Jae’veon Marquice Mitchell-Locke into custody on Wednesday in Kansas City. He was booked back into the Platte County Jail just after 8p.m., according to online jail records. He faces additional requested charges of operating a motor vehicle in a careless manner, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, according to online jail records.

Mitchell-Locke and two other suspects in the April gunfight during an undercover fentanyl trafficking investigation are charged in Wyandotte County with attempted murder, aggravated battery against law enforcement, criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied building or vehicle, aggravated endangering a child, aggravated assault of law enforcement officers and distribution or possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, according to online jail records.
