HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson’s Historic Fox Theatre will open its new season Friday, Oct. 9, with Revisiting Creedence, bringing the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival to the downtown stage.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., with lobby doors expected to open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets remain available, although Fox representative Josh Davies said sales have been strong.
During an interview on the BW Morning Show, Davies said the group includes musicians who toured worldwide with original Creedence members, bringing extensive experience performing the band’s music.

“The reproduction of the actual CCR sound is spot on,” Davies said. “It’s going to be a night of hit after hit.”
Friday’s concert also marks the deadline to purchase the Fox’s eight-show season ticket package. Davies said season tickets provide a 20% discount compared with individual show prices and allow patrons to keep the same seat throughout the series.
Season ticket holders also receive an early opportunity to purchase tickets for additional concerts announced during the year.
“Season tickets are strong this year,” Davies said. “We’ve got a lot of interest.”
Patrons attending this season will notice a change inside the theater. A grant from the Hutchinson Community Foundation helped the Fox relocate its sound console from the middle of the auditorium to the rear technical booth.
The move restored seating in the center section and removed equipment from patrons’ sightlines. Davies said improvements to the theater’s sound system made it possible for engineers to work effectively from the rear of the auditorium.
The Fox also is preparing to announce its Halloween, Veterans and Christmas film series.
PrairieStar Health Center sponsors the Halloween and Christmas series, while the Vieira Honors Foundation supports the Veterans Film Series. Davies said veterans will again be offered free popcorn during the veterans screenings leading up to Veterans Day.
The Christmas series will begin with a live event featuring Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in “A Christmas Story.” The event, included in the season ticket package, will feature a screening followed by an onstage discussion and questions about making the movie. An optional photo opportunity can be purchased separately through the box office.
Davies encouraged customers to begin online ticket purchases at the theater’s official website, hutchinsonfox.com, saying third-party sellers sometimes charge two or three times the theater’s ticket price.
The official website directs customers to the Fox’s ticketing service. Anyone uncertain about a ticket listing can contact the box office for assistance.
Tickets and season packages are available online or by calling 620-663-1981. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
