
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 Board of Education heard a presentation from the Hutchinson High School Theater Department during the Program Highlight segment on Monday.
Tobie Henline, theater teacher at Hutchinson High School, presented alongside students Magnolia Foster (junior), Caroline Miller (junior), Mariana Inchauriga (junior), Emily Baker (sophomore), and Noah Buller (senior) about the importance of performing arts in education.
During their presentation, students performed a number from their recent performance of Little Women: The Broadway Musical and Henline gave examples of how theater encompasses other academic subjects.
Also Monday, the board approved the COVID retention bonuses for administrative and classified staff. The funds were set aside in the 2022 budget. The board approved the purchase of a rooftop AC unit for the high school. The board also got an update on the virtual school program that was started by USD 308 this school year. The virtual format was put in place after many studied at home during the pandemic.
