Geraldine Faye “Gerry” Gough, 90, of Hutchinson, died August 14, 2024, at Hester Care Center. She was born July 8, 1934, in Abbyville, to Robert L. and Hazel E. (Birket) Breidenstein.
Gerry graduated from Arlington High School in 1952 and from Salt City Business College. She was a teller at Hutchinson National Bank for 38 years. Gerry enjoyed gardening, sewing, and camping, as she and Mel traveled all over the county with NOMADS. Gerry also volunteered for nearly 30 years with the American Diabetes Association and at Hutchinson Hospital. She was a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, serving as church treasurer and in U.M.W., and helped for many years in the church’s cafeteria at the Kansas State Fair.
On April 5, 1952, Gerry married Melvin E. “Mel” Gough, in Arlington. They shared nearly 71 years of marriage before his death on March 25, 2023.
She is survived by: her sons, Rodney Gough (Patty) of Wichita, Randy Gough of Winfield; grandchildren, Billy Douglas, Rachel Keeton (Lauren), Ashley Barton, Corey Gough; eight great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Pat Herring of Richwood, TX; and many extended family members.
Gerry was preceded in death by: her parents, daughter, Rene Faye Short; sister, Vera Oliver; and great-granddaughter, Jaedyn Douglas.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2024, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, 206 E. Avenue E, South Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
