
Thomas D. (Tom) Barclay, 90, died August 3, 2025 at The Wesley in Hutchinson, KS. He was born June 5, 1935 in Hutchinson, the son of Thomas R. and Bonnie Beatrice (Rank) Barclay.
He attended Arlington Public schools and was a life time resident of Arlington and Reno County. He retired from Cessna/Eaton as a production machinist and was an operator for Arlington Township. Tom provided welding services throughout the community, and many knew him through that.
Tom was one of the founding members of the Kansas Antique Racers, and wrote and edited their newsletter for many years. Tom’s #17 Champ car is currently on display at the Belleville High Banks HOF Museum in Belleville, KS. He was also a member of the Colorado Vintage Oval Racers.
On September 16, 1955 he married Lola Mae Heinrich Barclay, who still lives in Hutchinson. and would have celebrated their 70th anniversary in a few weeks. Other survivors include two daughters, Sheryl Ann Barclay, Hutchinson, KS, Bonnie Mae Barclay, and husband, Lem Meador in Peachtree Corners, GA and one grandson Cale Oliver Meador of Gleason, TN. Even though Tom was an only child, he was loved and cared for by Lola’s extended family throughout the years.
Friends may sign the book daily 9-5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday August 12, 2025, at Wesley Towers Chapel, 3709 Asbury Place, Hutchinson, with Reverend Robbie Fall officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, KS.
