NEWTON, Kan. — The Newton Main Street Beautification Campaign launched in May of this year already has surpassed 15 percent of its initial goal of $100,000 before the end of 2024.
Priorities for the first phase of the campaign are to replace the Christmas decorations on Main Street and to install a public address system that will serve multiple blocks of the downtown.
The campaign has raised more than $15,000, including a $10,000 contribution from Bethel College and a $5,000 donation from the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce. Donors throughout the campaign will be recognized on a page within the Choose-Newton.com website that will be posted this month.
More details about the ongoing campaign will be discussed during the Choose Newton presentation at the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast scheduled for 7:15 a.m. on August 19 at the Meridian Center.
