WOODSON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 9p.m. Thursday in Woodson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Chevy Silverado driven by Kelly L. Shaffer, 58, Yates Center, was eastbound on U.S. 54 four miles west of Yates Center. The driver lost control of the pickup. The vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle crossed back across the roadway, traveled off the road to the left again, struck the ditch and overturned.
Shaffer was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Jones-Campbell Funeral Home. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
