HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A new home at 2905 Morris Rd had an open house Tuesday. The $279,000 home is fully constructed by the building trades students from Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy.

Travis Riebel, director of HC&TEA, said the building trades program is a partnership between Hutchinson USD 308, Hutchinson Community College and the career and technical academy. The first open house for the home was on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

"Just the project home is a project we are very proud of," Riebel said. "It gives students some hands on experience, and they are learning the industry by building a home that someday, people are going to live in. So I feel like with our students whenever they enter into the program, I always tell them you are going to drive your kids through here, bring your grandkids through here and you'll always be able to say that hey, I helped build that house and that's always an incredible thing."

The home is 1700 square ft. and includes a three bedroom, two bath home and a three car garage. The basement is unfinished. Construction started in August of 2022 and finished in November of 2023.

The property is marketed and owned by Hutchinson USD 308. For inquiries if you are interested in a private tour, contact Travis Riebel at (620) 615-4123.
