HOLLY LOFTON
Lindsborg CVB
LINDSBORG, Kan. — It’s the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959. Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage, the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan! Packed with glorious tunes and a witty, charming script filled with delightful characters, Curtains is a hilarious journey for both performers and the audience. The Broadway production garnered 8 nominations at the 2007 Tony Awards® including Best Musical.
Started in 1959, Broadway RFD is the longest running outdoor theatre in the state of Kansas. Each Summer, talented members of the Smoky Valley community and surrounding areas come together to bring the highest quality show to patrons. People come far and wide, with their lawn chairs in tow, to sit in the summer breeze and be immersed in song and dance. This longstanding institution strives to bring great entertainment and exposure to the theatrical arts to those who enjoy the Smoky Valley.
Online ticket purchases are available beginning July 1. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate the night of performance. If you are participating in the Sunflower Summer program, check out the ticket options for attending Broadway RFD: each Kansas student and their parents are provided one free visit to each of the participating attractions (from the Sunflower Summer FAQ on the smartphone app).
Perfomances are July 19, 20, 26, & 27 all beginning at 8:30 p.m. Bleacher seating is available, but you are encouraged to bring your own lawn chair. Concessions are available. The Swensson Memorial Bandshell is located in Swensson Park, 400 N. Main Street.
