Erma Lee Rucker, 87, died April 7, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Erma passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born October 31, 1936, in Trousdale, Kansas, to Gilbert and Zelma (DeHaven) O’Neal.
Erma graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954. She worked as an administrative assistant for a printing company. Erma was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. She participated in the Altar Society and the Adoration Chapel there. Erma was a passionate reader since childhood and especially enjoyed cozy mystery novels.
On November 20, 1954, she married Jack Rucker, in Hutchinson. They shared 57 years of marriage before his passing on April 8, 2012.
Erma is survived by: her children, Charles Sundgren (Kay Kimmel), Richland, WA, Vickie Broxterman (Bob), Topeka, Mary Pessaran, Fulsom, CA, Gary Rucker, Hutchinson, Mark Rucker (Suzanne), Tonganoxie; son-in-law, Jeff Taylor (Julie), Topeka; grandchildren, Matthew Rucker (Megan), Benjamin Broxterman (Stephanie), Adam Broxterman, Rebecca Stanton (Jared), Christina Stender (Phil), Nathan Broxterman (Samantha), Sarah Sundgren (Chris Patrick), Aaron Broxterman (Whitney), Kaley Taylor, Alyssa Rucker, Camille Taylor, Alex Rucker; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Jack Rucker; daughter, Janet Taylor; son-in-law, David Pessaran.
Parish rosary will be 10:30 am Friday, April 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
