HHS thespians do well at state

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High School thespians had great results at the State Thespian Festival held recently.  

The Salthawks had multiple students compete in the Thespys Individual Events section.

Students who received an Excellent Rating were:

Noah Buller in Monologues

Isabella Allen in Makeup Design

Breanna Miller in Sound Design

Students who received Superior Ratings and qualified to compete at Internationals were:

Thaddaeus Blakley in Monologues

Mariana Inchauriga in Monologues

Magnolia Foster in Theatre Marketing

Kori Calkins in Scenic Design

Daniel Miller and Caroline Miller in Musical Theatre Duet Acting

In addition, Thaddaeus and Mariana were asked to perform in the Thespy showcase on Friday night as two of the Top 10 performers who received the 10 highest scores in acting performances in the State of Kansas.

Hutch High also had two students audition for colleges at the conference. Noah Buller auditioned for acting and received 14 callbacks from colleges attending the conference, while Kori Calkins auditioned for Technical Theatre and received 23 callbacks from colleges attending the conference.

In addition, instructor Toby Henline was named the Region V Kansas Theatre Teacher of the Year.
