Richard Paul “Dick” Saffle, 87, of Hutchinson, died October 24, 2022, at Hospice House. He was born October 6, 1935, in Mount Hope, to Paul A. and Frances L. (Staggers) Saffle.
Dick graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1954 and attended Hutchinson Junior College. He served in the United States Navy Reserves for 8 years. Dick worked in sales and management in the furniture industry for many years. He enjoyed golfing and watching sports of all kinds. Dick was a member of Loyal Order of Moose #982 for 66 years and was of the Methodist faith.
On June 6, 1954, he married Nancy Joan Schroeder in Hutchinson. She died January 27, 1991.
Dick is survived by: his children, Lois Cook (John) of Semmes, AL, Rick Saffle of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Angela Hinds (James) of Yukon, OK, John Paul Cook of Spanish Fort, AL; great-grandchildren, Sara Stancil (Garrett) of Yukon, OK, Christian Hinds (Leah) of Arvada, CO, Grace Fannin of Tuscaloosa, AL, Scott Hinds of Yukon, OK; brothers, Steve Saffle (Pam) of Augusta, Darrell Saffle of Apple Valley, MN; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Gary Saffle, Sarah Huss, and Patricia Mans.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Bill Gies officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and the link below to view it will be active beginning at 9:45 a.m. on the day of the service. Following the burial, everyone is invited to a meal in Dick’s honor being hosted by the Moose Lodge, 1401 E. 1st Ave., beginning at 1 p.m.
