Below are some Frequently Asked Questions from prospective preschool parents courtesy of the USD 313 website.
1. Do I have to bring my student with me?
No, your student is not required to come to the application clinic but is welcome to come with you.
2. What documents do I need to bring with me to the application clinic?
You will need to bring a copy of your student’s birth certificate, Immunization Records and Proof of Residency (water, power or gas bill, rental agreement, etc.)
3. Are there any medical requirements I should know about before enrolling?
Please be aware that any student up to the age of 9 entering school for the first time in the state of Kansas shall, prior to admission, be required to present the results of a health assessment conducted within 12 months of school entry by a physician or other health care provider as approved by the state of Kansas (KSA 72-5214). As an alternative to the health assessment, the student shall present a written statement signed by a parent or guardian that the child is an adherent of a religious denomination whose religious teachings are opposed to such assessment. Students who have not met the state health assessment requirement as outlined above will be excluded from school one week after parent notification and will remain excluded until the health assessment is completed. The health assessment may be brought to your student’s school in August.
4. Is lunch served during preschool?
Yes, lunch is served to both the morning and afternoon preschool students and is part of the preschool day. Students are welcome to bring their lunch. Breakfast is optional and is served at 7:35. Snacks are served to the afternoon preschool students. The normal lunch and breakfast fees apply. We encourage all families to fill out the federal lunch program form after July 1st to determine if they qualify for free or reduced lunches/breakfasts.
