HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson USD 308 will hold a virtual academy this year for the first time. The number of students taking advantage of the new format is still climbing.
According to numbers released on Thursday, 61 students will take the virtual academy. In Buhler, where they will also host virtual school this year, there are 20 students currently enrolled. Two area districts have had virtual schooling for some time. In Haven, they expect between 40 and 50 students this year. In Nickerson, they expect between 50 and 70 students.
Virtual schooling became popular with the onset of the pandemic. Many students feel they learn better in that environment.
