The Sterling High School Thespian Troupe has been recognized with a Silver Honor Troupe Award at the Kansas Thespian Conference, held earlier this month at Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center in Wichita.

More than 1,500 high school theatre students from across the state attended the annual conference, which featured three days of stage performances, technical and acting workshops, and auditions.

This marks the first year Sterling has fielded an official Thespian troupe. The program is led by theatre teacher Greg McGlynn, who guided students through the troupe’s inaugural season.

The Silver Honor Troupe Award is based on multiple criteria, including the quality and scope of student productions, participation in service projects, and comprehensive documentation of a troupe’s activities throughout the year.

The recognition highlights both the students’ commitment to theatre arts and the rapid growth of Sterling’s drama program in its first year of participation at the state level.
