
Chuck Grassley, Senator from Iowa, agrees that there is so much partisan fighting over food stamps and higher price support for farmers, a reconciliation bill may be the only way to get something done.
Grassley also points out that there may be some issues tying it in with the reconciliation, because the non-farm politicians who have no interest in agriculture, will want to make sure the food stamp portion is left untouched.
85% percent of the farm bill... goes to free government food, and only 15% percent goes to farmers and ranchers.
