Erwin Edward Leeper, 92, died February 10, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village. He was born March 26, 1931, to David Erwin Leeper and Edith Anne (Pearson) Leeper in Pratt, KS.
On April 27, 1956, Erwin married Ruth Irene Brown in McPherson, KS. She preceded him in death. He married Mildred Suderman on April 18, 2015, she survives.
Erwin served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He worked at Bond Bakery and Arrow Machine. Erwin served on several South Hutchinson city and county government councils and boards, was a member of various clubs and held multiple positions. He was a volunteer for the South Hutchinson City Fire Department. Erwin was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church and served in many capacities within the church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Jerry Leeper and Forrest Leeper; sister, Shirley Roberts; wife, Ruth Leeper; son, Fred King; and daughter, Barbara Warren.
Erwin is survived by: his daughter, Nancy Cruce and wife Linda of Urich, MO; son, David Leeper of Alabama; sisters, Thelma Hembree and Jean Montgomery of Hutchinson, KS; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, 206 East Avenue E, South Hutchinson, KS. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, KS. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
