HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After making some significant cuts to the budget during their meeting August 9th, the Reno County Commission will hold their revenue neutral rate and full budget hearings on Tuesday.
After several budget meetings the commission asked County Administrator Randy Partington to offer up a spreadsheet of potential cuts that could be made. During the August 9th meeting the commission found $884,000 worth of additional cuts that could be made. The cuts will not get the county to a revenue neutral rate but they will be close.
As it stands now, for Tuesday’s meeting the budget totals $80,894,406 on total taxes levied of $ 25,549,032 which is a drop of more than $1.1 million. The mill levy will be 37.810.
The cuts include several deferred vehicle purchases and a cut to courthouse renovation spending. They also include nearly $37,000 in service agency cuts, and cutting $300,000 of cash from the employee benefits line item.
The revenue and budget hearings are a part of Tuesday's county commission meeting starting at 9 a.m. at the Reno County annex.
