SHAWNEE COUNTY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a hotel fire in Topeka.

Just after 12a.m. Thursday, fire crews responded to a fire at the Relax Inn, 1224 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka, according to fire department spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

Fire crews found smoke and flames coming from the second floor of  the hotel. Firefighters began an offensive fire attack, keeping it confined to the structure where the fire originated. Firefighters performed a primary search and found no occupants.

A preliminary investigation determined the fire cause is classified as intentionally set. No injuries were reported.  Authorities released no details early Thursday on a damage estimate.
