HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Salvation Army announced that the 2023 Reno County Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance applications are open.
If you need help with food and gifts this holiday season, sign up at https://saangeltree.org/.
If you have trouble signing up online, there is in-person help with applications at the Salvation Army Office at 700 North Walnut from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Coat distribution this year is Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. For the coat distribution, photo ID is required for adults and kids must be present to receive coats. No appointment is necessary.
Spanish-speaking in person registration days for the holiday programs are Nov. 6 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
To complete an application, you will need a photo ID, proof of address, proof of income and something with each child's birthdate, like a Social Security card, immunization record or medical card print out for each child.
The Thanksgiving program provides a gift card to help with food purchases. The Christmas program provides each registered household with a Christmas food box and gifts for each child in the home age 12 and under.
