Charles "Chuck" Arin Harter, 77, of McPherson, KS, passed away May 5, 2024 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, KS.
Charles "Chuck" was born in Flint, Michigan on November 20, 1946, the son of Ralph Arin and Margaret (Thomas) Harter.
Chuck attended McPherson grade school, McPherson Jr. High School and McPherson Senior High School, McPherson, Kansas.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
Through the years Chuck worked as an owner and operator of C&H Gun & Pawn Shop and The Outback Gun Range Training Facility.
Chuck enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, shooting guns, teaching others about guns and safety, sci-fi movies, star trek, loved driving "Good Time Charlie", drag racing, dune buggies, scuba diving, rattlesnake hunts in Oklahoma, short wave radios, and spending time with his friends and family and loved his dog "Abby".
Chuck Harter was united in marriage to Debbie Anderson on May 7, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by his wife; children, Jema Koehn of McPherson, Kenny Harter of McPherson, and Jamey Koehn, of Virginia; brother, Brian Harter, of McPherson; and sister, Scherryl "Sis" Harter, of McPherson; 7 grandchildren, Tristin Harter, Aaron Harter, Olivia Koehn, Justin Koehn, Alexander Perkins, Emilee Perkins and Skyler Perkins;8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lee and Jeff.
Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson.
