Jean Latimer, 92, formerly of Derby, KS and Haysville, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home in McPherson, KS.
Jean was born June 2, 1932, in Edna, KS, the daughter of John Calvin and Alta Irene (Froman) Fahler. She graduated from Edna High School in 1950 and continued her education at Pittsburg State Teachers College. On June 24, 1951, Jean was united in marriage to Gary Duane Latimer in Edna, KS. This union was blessed with three children, Kathryn, Linda, and Kent.
Jean retired from the Coleman Company in Wichita, KS. She was a longtime member of Haysville United Methodist Church and attended the First Presbyterian Church in McPherson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 73 years, Gary of the home; daughter, Kathryn Williams of Topeka, KS; son, Kent Latimer of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda; siblings, Dorothea Fahler, Nellie Mae Coons, Phyllis Haines, and Jake Fahler.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1400 N. Main, McPherson, KS 67460 with Rev. David Kincaide officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery, Haysville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Boy Scout Troop #130 in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
