Just before 7a.m. Tuesday, Kansas City Fire Department companies were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 5000 block of Agnes Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan.

Fire crews were told of a possible person still inside the home.

The first arriving company reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the house and began rescue operations and initiated an offensive fire attack. Two hose lines were advanced into the structure. One person was found on the 2nd floor and was brought out of the house to an awaiting ambulance crew, where it was determined that she was deceased.

Companies were able to extinguish the fire and place it under control at 7:19a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCPD Bomb and Arson due to the fatality, according to Nolan.
