NICKERSON, Kan. — The Nickerson USD 309 School Board will discuss its search for a new superintendent during Monday’s agenda session.

The board will hear a presentation from the Kansas Association of School Boards about the search process. The district is in need of a new superintendent after the board decided not to renew Dr. Dawn Johnson's contract for next year. Johnson has since been named Executive Director of Human Resources for Hutchinson USD 308. What steps the board will take are not known at this time.

Also Monday, the board will take action on the school calendar for next year. If approved, school would start Aug. 17. Students would get three days off for Thanksgiving and Christmas break would run from Dec. 23 to Dec. 31 with students returning to class Jan. 3.

Spring break would be March 14 to March 18 and the last day of school would be May 25.

Finally, the board will take action on a bid from C.E. Comfort Products for new rooftop air conditioning units for the district at a cost of $89,963.

Monday’s meeting of the Nickerson school board begins at 7 p.m. at the district offices at 4501 W. 4th Ave.
