
Phyllis J. Snyder, 91, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. She was born April 20, 1932, on the farm near Windom, KS, the daughter of Guy E. and Beulah M. (Kidd) Snyder.
Phyllis later moved to Hutchinson and Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College and the University of Kansas. She trained in Medical Technology at Grace Hospital and worked there for a time and then worked for St. Elizabeth and Hutchinson Hospital. After working in the clinical laboratory for 38 years, she retired and volunteered for Hospice of Reno County, reins of Hope and the Read With me program at Graber Elementary School. Phyllis traveled overseas several times, and took many cruises and traveled to many parts of the United States. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, bowling, being with family and friends and cheering on her Jayhawks.
Phyllis was active in Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Altrusa International of Hutchinson and other organizations connected to her career in Medical Technology.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Norris and Dwight; nephew, Alan Snyder, great niece, Molly Snyder; and four beloved shelties, Taffy Jill, Doodles, Callie and Mindy.
She is survived by her nephew, Daniel Snyder and wife Donna of Nickerson, KS; two nieces, Janis Smoley and husband, Jim of Hutchinson, KS and Dixie Deines and husband Rick of Milwaukee, WI; and many great nephews, nieces; and great-great nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS with Rev. Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Bean Cemetery, Little River, KS at 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Reins of Hope, Hospice of Reno County or Donor’s Choice and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
