HAVEN, Kan. — The Haven City Council will give the public an update Monday on the legal issues with the city pool during their regular meeting.
City Attorney Andrew Foulston will give the public an update on the situation after Dean Chesnut of Haven spoke in public input at their Feb. 6 meeting and suggested that they figure out what they could tell the public after having meetings on the issue that are executive sessions almost every two weeks, since executive sessions are not open like the rest of the meeting.
The pool was closed in 2019 after necessary repairs failed to correct several problems. The city continues legal action to try to get its money back. According to the last public update last July, the parties to the litigation at that time included Compton Construction (general contractor), Harbinger Concrete (subcontractor), Don Paddock (designer of the pool remodel) and Johnson & Company Engineering (engineer working with Mr. Paddock on the pool design). The city is making an effort that officially began in January to get the pool open for the 2023 season.
Monday's meeting of the Haven City Council begins at 7 p.m. at 120 South Kansas in Haven.
