HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Residents will have a rare opportunity to tour one of downtown Hutchinson’s most anticipated redevelopment projects while supporting a local landmark later this month.
The historic Fox Theatre is hosting a special fundraising celebration on June 13 that will not only mark the theater’s 95th anniversary but also provide attendees with an exclusive preview of the newly restored Meyer Landmark building downtown.

Fox Theatre Executive Director Josh Davies said the event will celebrate historic preservation efforts that have helped transform two iconic Hutchinson properties.
The evening will feature live music, hors d’oeuvres, a 1920s-themed atmosphere, prohibition-inspired signature drinks and commemorative glassware. Guests will also be transported by motor coach from the Fox Theatre to the Meyer Landmark for guided tours before returning to the theater for presentations highlighting the history and restoration of both buildings.
The Meyer Landmark, located near Fifth and Main, was once slated for demolition after years of deterioration. Owner Laura Meyer-Dick said she saw potential in the building despite its condition and worked to bring that vision to life.

According to Meyer-Dick, residents are expected to begin moving into the building within weeks. The project will feature 36 apartments, with about one-third already leased. The development is targeting young professionals and retirees seeking a downtown living experience.
The building will also include several commercial tenants, including a full-service Italian restaurant operated by Giuseppe’s, an ice cream and cookie shop, and a speakeasy-style venue. Meyer-Dick said the additions are expected to help create a vibrant destination in the heart of downtown Hutchinson.

As part of the event, attendees will view a documentary chronicling the restoration process. Meyer-Dick said the film captures both the building’s history and the extensive work required to save it.
Davies noted that ticket availability is limited, with fewer than 80 remaining. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m., and tickets are available through the Fox Theatre.
