HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Applebee's will donate 50% of the purchase on Tuesday, October 24 to benefit Kansas Honor Flight of one of the five items on their special menu

Three—Cheese Chicken Penne
Fiesta Lime Chicken
Classic Bacon Cheeseburger
Chicken Tenders Platter
Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

Their donation will help honor Kansas WWII, Korea and Vietnam Era Veterans with a FREE 3 day-2 Night trip to Washington DC to see their memorials.

The Kansas Honor Flight is an all-volunteer organization that works to honor Kansas veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam Era Veterans by providing them with an a FREE 3 day trip to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C.  They also get to visit Arlington National Cemetery, Fort McHenry and several other memorials.

Kansas Honor Flight has been able to send over 3,500 Kansas Veterans on trips to Washington, D.C, including five Vietnam Brothers went together, A WWII Father went with his Vietnam Son, we had 4 Vietnam women veterans representing all the branches. Everyone that has gone has said  the same thing “It was a trip of a lifetime”.

They have had some that passed away just prior to being able to go. Their goal is to send the thousands of Kansas Veterans that have not been able to go on a KHF trip yet.

Who can go on Kansas Honor Flight? Veterans that served during the war years, according to the timeline below.

Dec. 7, 1941 to Dec. 31, 1946—(World War II)

June 25, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955—(Korean War)

Feb. 28. 1961 to May 7, 1975—(Vietnam War)

The trip cost is approximately $900 per veteran.  There are approximately 450 Kansas Veterans waiting to go on this once in a lifetime trip.
