Hutch In Harmony
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutch In Harmony named Lincoln-McCandless Elementary as the 2023 recipient of their You, Me, and Diversity initiative earlier this month. It honors diversity by providing school libraries with access to inclusive books for all ages from our Reading Rendezvous children’s list of the year.
The titles included: When Martin Luther King Jr. Wore Roller Skates; Glow; Women in Science; Old Enough to Save the Planet; I Love Boba!; Red: A Crayon's Story; Shaking Things Up; Moongphali; Until Someone Listens; Nana, Nenek, & Nina; A is for Aboriginal; Change Sings
Lincoln-McCandless students, staff, and faculty have experienced a lot of transitions this past year. This small gift, in partnership with Crow & Co., allows children to create a sense of belonging at their new school, see themselves in the pages that they read, and get to know about others with experiences different from them.
Hutch In Harmony is dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to books that inspire, celebrate, and support them on their journey.
