
Maryclare Elizabeth (Monnie by her siblings) “Mary” Konicek, 92, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at Angel Arms in McPherson.
Maryclare was born in Schuyler, Nebraska on August 15, 1931, the daughter of the Edward J. and Caroline Josephine (Tesnohlidek) Patach.
Maryclare attended Schuyler grade schools and graduated from Schuyler High School, Schuyler, Nebraska.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, where she belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church Atlar Society. She was also a member of American Legion Post 24 Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Auxiliary.
Maryclare was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she also worked as a secretary for the maintenance department of McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas for over 20 years.
She enjoyed doing crafts, going to craft shows with Stanley, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Maryclare was united in marriage to Stanley Lambert "Stan" Konicek on May 10, 1951 in Schuyler, Nebraska. The couple established their first home together on acreage outside Heun, Nebraska. They then moved to Schuyler, Nebraska for a few years prior to moving to Grand Island, Nebraska and moved to McPherson, Kansas in 1960. This union was blessed with the birth of eight children, three sons and five daughters; Cheryl, Allen, Bill, Jeanette, Diana, Kathy, John, and Caroline.
She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Pankewich, of Gardner, Kansas, Jeanette (Doug) James of Kansas City, Missouri and Diana (Scott) Sandidge of Alton, Illinois, Kathy (Kelly) Gonzles of Garden City, Kansas,Caroline (Jay) Crawford of McPherson, Kansas; sons, Allen Konicek, (significant other Janet Musick) of Burlingame, Kansas and Bill (Jeanne) Konicek, of Lander, Wyoming; 22 grandchildren, Skip Pankewich (Stephanie), Laura Jordan(Shane), Jeff Pankewich (Heidi), Jessica Dodson (Kieth), Dakotah Konicek (Stephanie) , Shadoe Konicek (Sidney), Candace Valenzuela (Joseph), Nicolette Noser, Brittney James, Jordan James, Isaac Sandidge(Kristina), Jason Sandidge, Laura Sandidge, Aubrie Sandidge (J.T.), Danielle Stokes (Richard), Joshua Gonzles (Megan), Tiffiany Gonzles (Derek Jones) , Paula Gonzles (C.J. Covington), Breanna Crawford-Dingman (Jason), Jordan Crawford (Breahna), Christopher Crawford, and Taylor Crawford (Bailey); and 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Maryclare was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan, son, John Konicek and sister, Delores Patach.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, Kansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 22, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, Kansas with Father Ben Shockey officiating. Burial will be held at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Angel Arms and sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid, McPherson, Kansas 67460.
