Police release name of suspect in murder of missing Kan. woman

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement on Tuesday released the name of the suspect in the homicide investigation involving a missing Kansas woman.

WICHITA, Kan. – This is an update to the September 28th media release regarding the homicide investigation of 43-year-old Rachel Johnson of Wichita.

The suspect in this case has been identified as 39-year-old Brentton Walker of Wichita, according to a statement from Wichita Police.

 Walker was located with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that Walker and Rachel Johnson had a prior dating relationship. 

On Sept. 28, investigators were directed to a residence in the 1800 block of South Longford Circle. There, officers located a reported missing Ford Fusion and found Johnson deceased inside the vehicle. Officers then entered the home and located Walker in the basement. He was pronounced deceased.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy. A mother has lost her life to a senseless and cowardly act, leaving a family devastated and a community grieving.  October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
