Rose Marie Gutsch |1930-2023|

Rose Marie Gutsch, age 92, of McPherson, KS, left her earthly body to be with God on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:40 p.m. in McPherson, Kansas. She was born on Feb. 26, 1930 in Manhattan, KS to Earl F. & amp; Matilda “Tillie” E. (Krueger) Avery.

She grew up in Marion, KS and attended grade school and graduated from Marion High School in 1947. She married Robert L. Gutsch on Nov. 5, 1948 in Marion, KS and to this union were born four daughters, Roberta, Rebecca, Robin and Rita. He preceded her on Feb. 6, 1992 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Rose lived in the Newton area for ten years until they moved to McPherson in 1961. She worked for McIntyre, Jukes & amp; Kennedy, Alliance Co., RB Stamp Service and lastly for Sterling Drug as a bookkeeper until her retirement.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lamplighters Circle at the church, Beta Sigma Phi and the McPherson Camp Lighters. She and Bob were avid campers in their early years and enjoyed dancing and traveling. She was a passionate supporter of her grandchildren and their activities. She enjoyed crocheting and a host of
other activities. Her family also recognizes her tremendous courage, patience, and love, in caretaking for her husband, Robert when diagnosed with Alzheimer’s before there was much research, support or understanding of that devastating disease.

She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Herrs (Dewayne), McPherson, KS, Rebecca Meyer (Craig), Liberty, MO, Robin Chapman (Kenneth), Gallatin, TN & Rita Martin (Todd), Casper, WY; sister in law, Sue Gutsch, Marion, KS; grandchildren, Ryan Herrs (Kelly Lyman), Joshua Meyer (Jamie), Tim Herrs, Jeremy Meyer (Jennifer), Elizabeth Herrs, Nikki Garcia (Chris), Andrew Chapman (Shereé), Emily Chapman; Shana
Martin; 10 great grandchildren. Rose was preceded by her husband, Robert; companion, Wayne Schafer; her parents, brothers, Wilbur “Bill” & Monette Avery; her sisters, Marcile Beardmore & June Davis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Emily Cannon & Darren Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas. Memorials are to Gentiva Hospice of McPherson and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W.
