KANSAS CITY—A truck driver is in custody after an alleged DWI near Kansas City.
On Monday, sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a box truck that had overturned near Murphy and Clinton County Line road, according to a statement from the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff. There were beer bottles littered around the truck, and a witness reported someone walking way from the crash with more beer bottles.

Deputies soon located the driver, who appeared very intoxicated. Witnesses were later able to confirm they'd seen him driving the truck just before the crash. The suspect had a restricted license from previous DWI convictions requiring he use an interlock ignition device to drive.
Almost two hours after the crash, the suspect provided a breath sample indicating his blood alcohol content was .307. That is nearly four times the legal limit and can even be fatal in some people.
After being checked out at the hospital, the suspect was taken to the Clay County Detention Center. The case has been submitted to the prosecutor's office for review.
