Capt. Troy Mueller has been assigned to Idaho, where he is helping with the Gwen Fire. According to the Idaho Department of Lands, Air resources were able to successfully drop retardant on the east side of the fire Sunday afternoon, minimizing the fire’s spread out of the river bottom. Firefighters worked to reduce the unburned fuel load by completing burnout operations on the northern, northeastern, and eastern perimeter of the fire.

According to the Associated Press, more than 100 large active wildfires were burning in the U.S. on Monday.
