Rodney “Rod” Weinmeister, (85) died on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at home with his family. He was born November 16, 1940, in Hillsboro, KS, to Emil and Viola Rachel (Buller) Weinmeister.
On August 17, 1962, he married Elizabeth “Sue” Turner in Lyons, KS. They shared 63 years of marriage.
Rod is survived by his wife, Sue of Hutchinson; daughter, Sheri Galliart and husband Shawn of Hutchinson; son, Mark of Portland, Ore; granddaughter, Emily Galliart, husband Logan Leuenberger and their children Olivia and Owen of Hutchinson; grandson, Matthew Galliart, wife Morgan and their children Mason and Kit of Russell; and grandson, Sam Galliart and fiancé Kris Van Hoosen of Holland, Mich.
A private burial will be held at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, through June 19, 2026, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. One of Rod’s favorite accomplishments was visiting every Major League Baseball stadium in the U.S. and Canada with his special group of friends known as “The Boys of Summer.”
