Mary Lou Lowe, 75, of Buhler, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.
She was born on December 15, 1948 in Liberal, Kansas. Mary Lou was raised in the Liberal and Guymon, Ok. area. She moved to Hutchinson, and later Buhler, where she raised her family. She graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 1992. She later attended Hutchinson Community College to become a certified medication aide.
For several years Mary Lou was a Sergeant at the Reno County Sheriff’s Department, and for a short time, a guard at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. Mary Lou opened an in-home daycare and cared for many children, several of whom remained in her life. Later, she became a certified medication aide. For six years, she owned and operated Mamma Lou's Cafe in Buhler. Most recently, she was a bookkeeper for AuctionMethod Inc.
Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with friends and family, working in her garden, and taking care of - and spoiling - her dogs.
Survivors include her sons Dennis (Phoebe) West of Shelburne Falls, Ma. and Nathan Lowe of Buhler; brother Michael Kingsley of Granbury, Tx.; two grandchildren Henry Walker-West and Harper Walker-West, Jerry Galemore, former husband; and many friends and extended family members.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her mother Emma Jean (Kapp) Kingsley; step-father Dorn Kingsley; sisters Marie Dearing, Sandra Hardin, and Sharon Pearson; Lewis Lowe, former husband.
