
KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement a investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri have released the name of the victim as 58-year-old Derrick Copeland, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
Just after 4:30pm Thursday were dispatched to a reported shooting at an apartment building in the 1200 block of Askew in Kansas City, according to Becchina.
Officers were led into an apartment inside the building. There they located a Copeland unresponsive. Officers called for EMS into the scene who declared Copeland deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a caller responded to the apartment and observed Copeland injured and unresponsive inside. The caller then called 911 for police and ambulance. There are not any suspects in custody at this time.
