Jeanette Marie Vierthaler  |1937-2022|

Jeanette Marie Vierthaler passed away peacefully in Hutchinson, KS on June 13, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born on May 29, 1937 to Herman and Margaret (Gillen) Kimminau in Nashville.  Jeanette graduated from Zenda High School in Zenda, in 1955 and attended Cosmetology School in Wichita. She married the love of her life, Dennis Nicholas Vierthaler, on May 30, 1958 at St. John’s Church in Zenda. Together, Jeanette and Dennis raised three children, Tim, Dan, and Sheila.

Jeanette spent most of her career working as Personnel Director for K-Mart in Hutchinson.  She enjoyed interacting with people and helping others.  Jeanette was an avid gardener and bird watcher.  She enjoyed taking vacations camping, swimming, and fishing with her family.  Jeanette was a kind and loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a good, honest, trustworthy, generous, compassionate person and a friend to all who knew her. Jeanette took great pride in her family and enjoyed providing delicious homemade meals that brought her family together.

Jeanette had a strong Catholic faith and was an active member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Hutchinson, KS. Jeanette gave generously of her time to her church, serving as President of the Altar Society and as Wedding Reception Coordinator.  She helped provide meals to those less fortunate through Harvest House and was a charter member of Perpetual Adoration at Church of the Holy Cross.  Jeanette donated her time and talent in volunteering at the Hutchinson Zoo and the Hutchinson Library.  She served leadership roles in Girl Scouts and 4H, was an active member of the Hutchinson Horticulture Club, and cheerfully provided transportation for elderly residents of Wesley Towers.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Dennis; brother, Edwin (Karen) Kimminau; sisters, Carol Polaha, Helen Cecil, and Marjorie (Jack) Livingston; daughter-in-law, Patty Vierthaler; son-in-law, Paul Strecker; grandchildren, Stacie Vierthaler, Kristen (Phillip) Sawyers, Leigh Anne Strecker, and Brandon Strecker; and great-grandchildren, JoEllen Sawyers and Loretta Sawyers.  Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rodney Kimminau; and three children, Tim Vierthaler, Dan Vierthaler and Sheila Strecker.

Rosary will be prayed on Thursday morning, June 16, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson.
