
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The May unemployment rate in Reno County inched up slightly from the previous month.
According to the figures released from the Kansas Department of Labor the jobless rate increased by three-tenths of a percent to 3.5%. In 2020 the May jobless rate was 7.7%, as the brunt of the pandemic was being felt in the area.
There were 1,039 Reno County residents looking for work in May compared with 960 in April. Nearly 2000 county residents were out of a job at this time last year.
The state's unemployment rate was level at 3.5%.
