UPDATED: Thursday night accident pedestrian victim identified

Correction: An earlier version of this story said the victim was taken to Hutchinson Regional for treatment. The police's release says the victim went to Via Christi in Wichita. Hutch Post regrets the error.

UPDATE: The name of the victim in Thursday night's vehicle-pedestrian accident at 1300 South Severance has been released. The woman, who died at a Wichita hospital, was identified as Nikia F. Thomas of Hutchinson. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Michael A. Taylor of Hutchinson. 

No criminal charges have been filed.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Police were on the scene of an injury accident near Carey Park on South Severance Thursday evening. 

Sgt. Matthew Rucker with Hutch PD told Hutch Post's Judd Weil that one person was transported to Via Christi hospital in Wichita as a result of what was originally reported as a vehicle pedestrian accident at 8:37 p.m. at 1300 South Severance, but he did not have details on the person's injuries.

According to a Friday release from the department, the driver of the vehicle was a 51-year-old male heading north on Severance. The person hit was a 29-year-old female. That person was taken to Via Christi in Wichita for treatment.

The names of the driver and victim were not released.
