MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Public Schools Bond Special Election is today, Tuesday, May 9, 2023 and is open to all registered voters in the USD 418 district.
The bond request is $88,515,000.
If the vote passes, the design process for the new academic addition at the high school will begin, taking up to a year to finalize. Construction will last 2-3 years.
Safety, security, and mechanical system upgrades for the elementary and middle school buildings will begin during the 2023-2024 school year, if the money is approved.
A mill levy is the "tax rate" that is applied to the assessed value of a property. One mill is one dollar per $1,000 dollars of assessed value.
The current USD 418 mill levy is 51.4. If the bond issue passes, the mill levy in that district will be 62.5 (an increase of 11.1 mills). For a $200,000 home, this increase equals $21.28 per month.
