WICHITA, Kan.—In front of a record-breaking crowd of 8,506 fans at Riverfront Stadium, the Wichita Wind Surge sealed its home opener against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 3-1 on Tuesday.

The Surge scored an unanswered run in the first after Jake Rucker hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Brooks Lee. The Naturals tied it up in the fifth on a solo shot from Luca Tresh.

The Surge took the lead, 2-1 in the eighth inning, taking advantage of two Naturals errors. Brooks Lee walked and scored on a wild pitch. Pat Winkel then walked, scoring Yoyner Fajardo.

RHP pitcher Carlos Luna made his debut with the Surge Tuesday evening. He pitched 5.2 innings and struck out 10 out of 18 batters. He allowed one run and one hit.

LHP Kody Funderburk pitched 2.0 innings. He struck out three, walked one and allowed two hits. RHP Alex Scherff got the win. He pitched 1.1 innings and struck out two.

NOTES – In the Surge’s home opener, Riverfront Stadium hosted 8,506 people which is the largest crowd in stadium history. RHP Carlos Luna made his first start and debut with the Surge against the Naturals. Brooks Lee has a hit in all four games this season.

UPCOMING – Wichita will play the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:05. RHP Blayne Enlow will make his second start on the hill this season with the Surge. The Wind Surge has radio coverage on ESPN 92.3 FM and the MiLB App and windsurge.com.

NEXT HOME GAME – Wichita will play on Wednesday, April 12 against the KC Royals affiliate the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at 7:05 p.m.
