KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred on Father's Day in Kansas City.
Just before 1a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 11500 block of Belmont in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim in front of a residence there, unresponsive, inside a car. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over treatment. EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.
A short time later the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Officers detained one person at the scene for further investigation.
Preliminary information indicates that the victim was at the location inside the residence when he had an interaction with one or more people inside the residence. That interaction continued as the victim exited the residence and entered a vehicle in front of the residence. That interaction ultimately led to gunfire that struck the victim.
Detectives are not searching for any additional subjects of interest at this time, according to Becchina.
