The City of Hutchinson is giving residents a behind-the-scenes look at the services and employees who help keep the city running.
Hutchinson Public Works & Utilities will host an open house Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will highlight the equipment, facilities and daily operations involved in providing essential city services.
Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the city's drinking water and wastewater systems, along with the work performed by streets, traffic, engineering and fleet maintenance employees.
The open house will include a Touch-a-Truck opportunity featuring Public Works equipment. Visitors will also be able to tour facilities and explore the wastewater laboratory to learn more about how Hutchinson's water and wastewater systems operate.
City employees will be available throughout the event to explain their work, answer questions and discuss the operations that often take place behind the scenes.
The event is designed to give residents a closer look at the people and infrastructure responsible for maintaining many of the services Hutchinson residents rely on each day.
