
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Whether it was the easing of the pandemic or other factors, the number of summer meals served in Hutchinson USD 308 fell in 2022 when compared to the previous year. The number of summer meals was 49,444. That includes 34,490 lunches and 14,954 breakfasts. The district also provided 9,826 snacks for the Boys and Girls Club this year.
In 2021 the district served 63,333 meals including 29,167 breakfasts and 34,157 lunches. The district did not serve the Boys and Girls club last year. The difference showed up in the number of breakfasts served this year compared to 2021 with about half as many students taking free breakfast this year.
Meals are still being served to students in Haven USD 312 and Nickerson USD 309 through the end of this week.
