Ronald Leroy Shannon Jr. passed to his eternal reward October 20, 2025, at his home in South Hutchinson, Kansas.
Ronald was born September 27, 1963, in McPherson, the son of Ronald Leroy Shannon Sr. and Shirley Earlene Shannon.
Ronald served honorably in the United States Navy and was especially proud of serving aboard the USS Halsey.
Ron became born again at a young age and was happy to discuss his relationship with Jesus with anyone who would listen. Especially late in his life he studied his Bible wanting to understand more about his Savior and his eternal destination.
Ron was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, served on the church's security team and enjoyed serving as a trustee.
Ron had a lifelong love of fishing and fished often with his church buddies. He was an animal lover who enjoyed his cat Precious and tended to stray neighborhood cats. Ron was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed his Kansas Jayhawks Men's Basketball team and agonized over his Cleveland Browns.
Ron is survived by his two brothers, Jeff, WA; and Matt, Hutchinson, KS, and his stepfather, Charles, WA.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his father, Ronald Sr.; his mother, Shirley; and his brother, Eric.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of his home-going will be held at 1 p.m., November 1, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. 4th Ave. Hutchinson, with Pastor Brian Lee presiding. A live stream of the service will be available through New Hope Baptist Church Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to New Hope Baptist Church missions, in care of New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. 4th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67501.
