BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Following the NBA Draft on Thursday night, a couple of Kansas connections inked deals with teams.

Kansas State guard Markquis Nowell signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors. Nowell became a national sensation after his performances in the NCAA tournament, helping guide the Wildcats to the Elite Eight. Nowell set a single-game NCAA tournament record with 19 assists in a Sweet 16 win over Michigan State. He averaged 13.5 assists a game in the tournament. The New York native averaged 17.6 points, 8.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds this past season.

Wichita State guard Craig Porter Jr. signed a two-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Terre Haute, Indiana native spent three seasons with the Shockers, averaging 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 75 career games. Porter Jr. began his collegiate career at Vincennes University in Indiana where he helped lead the Trail Blazers to the 2019 NJCAA national title in the Sports Arena.

A two-way contract means players can play in the G-League (developmental league) and the NBA if called up.
