Carmen Rodriguez, 102, of Hutchinson, died October 25, 2023, at Legend Senior Living.  She was born September 1, 1921, in La Puerte Del Monte, Estado De Guana Juato, Mexico, to Francisco and Maria (Rosas) Almanza.

In addition to being a homemaker, Carmen worked as a house manager and personal assistant for the O'Sullivan family in Hutchinson for many years. She also served as caregiver to her extended Almanza and Rodriguez families. Carmen was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served in the Ladies Altar Society for many years. She also was a member of Francisco I. Madero Socierty and Sociadad Reprecentativa Mexicana (SRM). Carmen was an excellent cook and was known for her famous muffins. She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.

On November 21, 1942, she married Bacho Rodriguez, in Newton. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before his death on September 6, 2000.

Carmen is survived by: her children, Gilbert Rodriguez (Julie) of Hutchinson, Mary Bezy of Fort Worth, TX, Robert Rodriguez of Hutchinson; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Salas and Lupe Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Raymond Almanza of Denver, CO, Frankie Almanza (Romey) of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; stepmother, Felis Ponce Almanza; sisters, Veronica and Lola; and brothers, Jessie and Daniel.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St., South Hutchinson. Private family burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Friends may call from 1-8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
